Supporting Characters

Kamathipura Women:

Raziabai: 

She is Gangubai’s enemy in the film. She is also a powerful woman, but she uses her power for her own gain. She treats women badly and tries to destroy Gangubai’s efforts. This character shows that not all powerful women use their power in good ways.

Rahim Lala:

He is a gangster who helps Gangubai after she is beaten. He respects her and becomes like a brother to her. Though he is a man in a world of crime, he treats her with respect. He shows that not all men are harmful and that men can support women too.

Afsaan:

A young man who falls in love with Gangubai. Their love story is emotional. But Gangubai ends it because she knows that society will never accept them as a couple. This shows the deep sadness that women like her have to carry.

 Gender Stereotypes Broken

In most films, sex workers are shown in a negative way. But in Gangubai Kathiawadi, they are shown as people with emotions, hopes, and dreams.
